The first block begins with our initial introduction to fractions. This work progresses from a tactile representation (clay, paper, food, etc.) to the pictorial and numeric. A creative and step-wise approach is used to understanding the meanings of numerator and denominator, equivalent fractions, and adding and subtracting frMaterials: practice book (blank and unlined), main lesson book (blank and unlined), crayons (block and stick), coloured pencils, pen or fountain pen, water colour paints and watercolour paper and equipment, paper and scissors
Daily practice may include any or all of the following: maths practice, speech and recitation, movement, form drawing, etc.
MLB Assignments: experiential and tactile work with fractions, pictorial and numeric assignments into MLB, artistic work, dictations, creative and independent writing, and much more.
* the children will need an apple or two on the first day
